Pavilion 15t-cs200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone. I'm going to start with, I don't know how long this problem has been happening, but I don't think it's more than a couple days. I use this laptop every day after work, and I'm still working from home, so it sees a lot of use.

Last night after I turned my laptop off, I noticed that the LED charging light was still blinking. The computer was 100% off and the AC power adapter was NOT plugged in at all. I found this to be very strange, so I immediately started looking into the issue. I turned my laptop back on and I found some other people who have been less fortunate than I. I ran the battery test a couple times that were suggested in the other forum posts I saw, and I seem to have no issues with my battery, but I still can't figure out how to make the blinking light go away.

It appears as though the blinking light is my only issue. My laptop still charges completely normally through the power adapter, and drains normally, like it did before I noticed this problem. I'm hoping the problem doesn't get worse, as my warranty just expired four days ago (as of the date of this post). Every time I unplug the power adapter from my laptop, the LED light blinks five times, then stops. Then it blinks five more times, then it stops. This process repeats until I plug it in and the battery starts to recharge again.

If anyone could provide some insight as to why my laptop might be doing this and how to fix it, I would be very grateful. Please let me know if more information is needed about the problem/my computer to solve the issue.

@ohornshaw

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • 1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.
  • 2. Expand batteries.
  • 3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.
  • 4. Shut down the computer.
  • 5. Disconnect the charger.
  • 6. Remove the battery.
  • 7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.
  • 8. Insert the battery only.
  • 9. Attempt to turn the battery on.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
