Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP 17.3" Full HD IPS (1920x1080) Notebook that was dropped and broke around the hinge area. The hinges themselves work but the mounts they are attached to are broke. Is a case replacement ideal and possible?

Possible, yes.

Replacing the upper part of the laptop enclosure requires an almost complete disassembly of the laptop.

Are you up to the task?  Most people are not.

Fin your specific laptop product number in the links at the HP PartSurfer web document below. for the specific part numbers

https://partsurfer.hp.com/?searchtext=18B36AV

It would be simpler if you provided the actual product number instead of the generic model series product name and product number.

If I have that information, I can provide the specific part number you need.

Can you post a digital photo of the upper enclosure?

You may need the bottom enclosure as well. The metal part that the hinges attach to are screwed onto the base enclosure.

Here is a link to online vendors of the lower enclosure (non ODD)

How about a photo showing where the broken part is?

If you do that, I can be more specific as to which part of the enclosure you will need to purchase.

I have asked for the Moderator to review your three images again. I already took a look at them.

It appears that you need the keyboard/top cover and the bottom enclosure.

In that third image, is it the back of the display cover?
