Hello!
The original charger of my laptop is not functioning properly. When it is first plugged in, the battery charging icon is displayed (the laptop is being charged), but then immediately (after a second or two) it goes off and stops charging. I have tried power reset, BIOS update, battery driver update, Windows updates, HP Support Assistant updates and other well-known methods, but they do not help. The laptop is less than a year old, and there is no visible physical damage on the adapter, power cord, or the connector tip. I tried to replace the power cord with another one, but the issue persisted.
The only method that seems to work so far is the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tool (restart + ESC + F2). When performing the AC Adapter Test, a message appears on the screen, suggesting me to plug out the power cable and reconnecting it after approximately 10 seconds. Only after doing this (takes 2-3 attempts though), the laptop starts to be charged normally, and the AC Adapter passes the test. But if I then plug out the charger from the laptop at some point, putting it back will not charge and I have to repeat the hardware diagnostics test. Besides, the 10-seconds method does not work solely without doing the AC Adapter Test.
For the last few days, it has helped me keep my laptop alive. However, I am not sure how long this technique will be able to do the job. I do not understand what the problem actually is and how I should proceed with this situation. I do not want to purchase a new charger right now, because for some reason I believe the problem is something else, and the new adapter will not work either...
Laptop Model: HP 255 15.6 inch G10 Notebook PC
Operating System: Windows 11 Home version 23H2
Many thanks in advance!
