Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15- dk0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

My gaming laptop is nearly 9 months old and was functioning perfectly till a few days back, was able to get constant 60+ FPS in all games i play(World of Warcraft Retail and Destiny 2). However, since last few days, i'm struggling to get even 45-50 FPS in-game, and in most of the cases it is between 35-40 FPS only. In raids it usually drops to 20-22 FPS, which has never happened before.

However, my laptop charger gets extremely hot when plugged in, and it's the way the charger was delivered to me when i bought the product. The machine temperature however is usually between 60-70 degree celsius only. I didn't suspect the hot charger would create any issue initially when i ordered the product.

I also ran the HP tests on my machine and charger, which is saying everything is fine.

I suspect the charger is cooked, but please guide me here.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

I understand that your HP notebook ac adapter is getting warmer than usual. To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did you make any changes to the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • Did you try another charger?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

  • 1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.
  • 2. Expand batteries.
  • 3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.
  • 4. Shut down the computer.
  • 5. Disconnect the charger.
  • 6. Remove the battery. (only for removable battery)
  • 7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.
  • 8. Insert the battery only. (only for removable battery)
  • 9. Attempt to turn the battery on.
  • If possible, try an alternate charger.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
