OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop 16-k0000 (594J7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I’m using the OMEN by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop (Model: 16-k0000) and currently facing a serious charging issue. The laptop takes nearly 2 days to fully charge, which is highly unusual. However, once fully charged, it performs normally and runs for around 3 to 4 hours. The battery health is at 84%, and I’ve already run the HP Hardware Diagnostics, which reported no issues. Despite that, the slow charging remains unresolved.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue? Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

@Hasnain_Abbas, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Experiencing slow charging on your OMEN by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop can be troublesome. Here are some steps to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:

Check the AC adapter:

  • Ensure you are using the correct AC adapter supplied with your laptop. Using third-party or incompatible adapters can lead to such issues.
  • Verify the physical condition of the adapter (no bent pins, no damages).
  • If possible, test with a different but compatible AC adapter to see if the charging rate improves.

Inspect the power port.

  • Inspect the laptop's power port for any dust, debris, or damage. A poor connection can cause charging issues.

Update System Drivers and BIOS:

  • Ensure your laptop’s BIOS, firmware, and drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause power management issues.
  • You can check for updates using the HP Support Assistant.

Battery Calibration:

  • Sometimes, recalibrating the battery can help. Fully discharge the battery until the laptop shuts down, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%.

HP Performance Modes:

  • Ensure the laptop is not in a power-saving mode that limits charging speed. Adjust settings in the OMEN Gaming Hub or Windows Power Options.

Performing a hard reset can sometimes resolve charging issues.

  1. Shut down the laptop.
  2. Disconnect all peripherals.
  3. Remove the battery (if removable) and AC adapter.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual power.
  5. Reconnect the battery (if removed) and the AC adapter.
  6. Power on the laptop.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
