Hi, I live in the tropics. Laptop is 3 years old. Needs a proper clean up now as the fan started a loud noise every now and then.
I will be in Munich for 3 months (June - August). Is there any HP maintenance service place in my area being able to assist?

Also: Sometimes the screen goes black for about 5-7 seconds. Have that for a very long time. What is this connected with?
Is there a way to proper refurbish it maybe - for faster speed?

Using it for businesses & private. Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi @SofiaClara,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Fan Noise and Cleaning

It is essential to clean the internal components of your laptop, especially the cooling fan, to ensure optimal performance. Dust buildup can cause the fan to make loud noises and reduce its effectiveness. Since you'll be in Munich for a few months, you can find HP authorized service centers to assist with proper maintenance and cleaning.

2. Black Screen Issue

The intermittent black screen issue might be connected to various factors, including:

  • Driver Issues: Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can cause the screen to go black.
  • Overheating: Excessive heat can cause the hardware to temporarily shut down components.
  • Hardware Issues: Loose connections or a failing display panel.

Steps to Diagnose and Solve

For Fan Cleaning:

  1. Find an HP Authorized Service Center
    • Visit the HP Support Locator to find a nearby authorized service center in Munich.
    • Enter your location to get a list of available service centers and their contact information.

For Black Screen Issue:

Update Graphics Drivers

  • Go to the HP Support page at HP Drivers & Downloads.
  • Enter your laptop's model number and download the latest graphics drivers for Windows 11.

Check for Overheating

  • Ensure proper ventilation for your laptop.
  • Clean any visible dust from the vents using compressed air.

Run HP Diagnostic Tools

  • Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to check for hardware issues. You can download it from the HP Support page

Screen Connections

  • If comfortable, check the internal connections to ensure cables are securely connected.
  • Alternatively, have this checked by a professional at an authorized service center.

I hope this helps.
