Hi @User1969,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern about hardware upgrade, don’t worry let me help you with this.

I understand about hardware compatibility before making changes to your laptop, and I can see why you’d want a clear answer before installing the Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 adapter.

Could you share a bit more detail about your current situation? For example:

  • Are you experiencing issues with your existing WiFi adapter, or are you looking to upgrade for better performance?
  • Have you already tried installing the Intel 7260 adapter, or are you still in the planning stage?
  • Do you know the current WiFi card model in your HP Pavilion 17-e150sr?

A few troubleshooting and preparation steps you can try:

  • Check BIOS whitelist: Some HP laptops have a whitelist in the BIOS that restricts which WiFi adapters can be used. If the adapter isn’t on the list, the laptop may refuse to boot with it installed.
  • Confirm slot type: The Pavilion 17-e150sr uses a Mini PCI-E half-size slot, so physically the Intel 7260 should fit. Double-check the slot type in your laptop’s service manual.
  • Update BIOS and drivers: Before swapping hardware, ensure your BIOS is updated to the latest version and that you have the latest Intel drivers ready.

I hope this helps.

Hello. If I had a whitelist of the HP Pavilion 17-e150sr laptop, I would not ask, answer with a set of phrases, like you are not worth, without a clear answer yes or no. Thank you.

Hi @User1969,

Thanks for your response and I completely understand your frustration  when you’re planning a hardware upgrade, you want a clear and confident answer, not a set of vague phrases. You’re right to expect precision here.

To give you an exact compatibility confirmation for the Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 adapter with your HP Pavilion 17-e150sr, I’ll need to check the system’s details against HP’s official website and specifications. Since this information is tied to your specific unit, could you please share the serial number (S/N) and product number (P/N) of your laptop with me via private message? That way, I can verify directly whether this adapter is supported for your model and provide you with a definitive yes or no

Hi @User1969,

Thanks for your response.

Yes, the Intel Dual Band Wireless‑N 7260 adapter is physically compatible with the HP Pavilion 17‑e150sr, but there are important limitations,  HP notebooks sometimes block non‑HP‑branded wireless cards at boot. Even if the card is technically compatible, the BIOS may prevent it from functioning unless it carries an HP‑specific spare part number, If you install a non‑HP version, the laptop may show a “Unsupported Wireless Module” error at startup.

I hope this helps.

Hello, Question: Then why did you ask “In order to give you an accurate confirmation of the compatibility of the Intel Wireless-N 7260 Dual Band Adapter with your HP Pavilion 17-e150sr, I need to verify the system details with the official HP website and specifications. Since this information is specific to your specific device, could you please private message me with the Serial Number (S/N) and Product Number (P/N) of your laptop? This way, I can directly check whether this adapter is supported for your model, and give you a final answer “yes” or “no”. (I sent you) to give such a stupid answer, I know it without you. Thank you
