Hi All!,
Just wonderin if how often do we need to clean our fans and heat sink to avoid overheating in our laptops? does the service center here in our country provide that service? because I had 2 old laptops and they both ended up overheating I think due to dirty fans and heat sink. Please feel free to post your thoughts on this thread. Thanks!

I have seen them that bad and worse but it depends on the environment they are used in. It is rare to see buildup like that in less than 2 years and I have seen 5 year old laptops clean as a whistle inside. Most people will never do it to their laptops and if you have a shop do it the cost is high. The HP Service Center would charge you to do it if they even will. On most current models it is just a matter of removing the back cover to access the fan. It possible to minimize dust buildup by blowing the fan out with compressed air every year or so and keep it from ever getting to look like the picture.
