Pavilion Laptop 14bf103na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I purchased an HP Pavilion laptop earlier today and have run the Support Assistant updates process. There is a Firmware Update available that fails to install with a generic error message "Failed Installation. Sorry we encountered an error. Please try again later."

Since purchasing, I've installed a number of standard programs (Chrome, Spotify, VLC etc.), which includes Avira Antivirus and Malwarebytes.

Outside of those installations and the updates installed before this one failed, the laptop is as it came out of the factory.

Is this a likely result of the Antivirus installation or is there something else I should be looking at?

Thanks,

Tim.

Verify that the BIOS update you are trying to install is compatible with the systemboard ID.

It is unfortunate, but the HP Suport Assistant is not perfect.

You will indeed need to download and install BIOS version F.31 which provides support for Windows 10 v1709. The download portal is at the following link.
