Hi @crkloppy,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A slow HP ENVY x360 laptop, especially when working with Citrix, can be really frustrating. Here are some steps you can try to improve its performance.
Check for Background Processes:
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check if there are any processes consuming a lot of resources. End tasks that are unnecessary but make sure they are not critical system processes.
Update Windows and Drivers:
- Ensure Windows is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Update your drivers, especially graphics and network drivers. Visit HP’s support site or use Windows Update for driver updates.
Check Citrix Settings:
- Ensure your Citrix client is updated to the latest version.
- Try adjusting the performance settings in Citrix. Lowering the display resolution or disabling unnecessary features can help.
Check for Malware:
- Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or any other reputable antivirus software.
Free Up Disk Space:
- Delete unnecessary files and programs. Use Disk Cleanup (search for it in the Start menu) to remove temporary files and system cache.
Optimize Startup Programs:
- Open Task Manager, go to the Startup tab, and disable programs that you don’t need to launch at startup.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- Ensure your laptop’s cooling system is clean and functioning properly. Overheating can cause slow performance.
- Consider running HP Support Assistant or Diagnostics to check for hardware issues.
Upgrade RAM or SSD:
- If your laptop has insufficient RAM or a traditional HDD, upgrading to an SSD and adding more RAM can significantly improve performance.
Adjust Power Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings and select High performance.
Reinstall Citrix:
- Sometimes reinstalling the Citrix client can resolve performance issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
