HP Pavilion Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Last year I brought a HP Pavilion Notebook. Specifications:

*Proccesor: i5-7300HQ 2,50GHz

*Ram :12 GB

*GPU: GeForce GTX 1050

*64-bit systeem

I never had any problem with the laptop and am pretty satisfied with it, till last week. I frequently game (games like Fallout 4, Rust, Planetside 2,...) on the laptop like i did last week but it suddenly shut down into hybernation mode with the message that the laptop was overheated (90°C) wich has never happend before.

So I let it cool down for a minute or 10 and started it back up with no problems there. I had installed Speedfan before to keep a close eye on my temperature wich was normaly around the 40°C for my 4 core unit/CPU and 45°C for my GPU in idle. In game it always reached about 80-90°C depenedly on the game, but never went in hybernation mode. In the pasted week I used my computer the same as before but it went a couple times into hybernation while in game or running programmes.

My computer starts heating with the smallest task and has an average temperature above 50 wich it did not have before. So I thought it accidentally change some of my CPU settings with an updating, because the CPU was clearly throttling back in game because of the high temperatures. So I read somewhere it could be because of my CPU's being parked or not-parked so I downloaded an app to unpark the core's again.

Still it had no succes. Even with games less performance oriented, it still shut's down to hybernation mode and reaches an average temperatures in idel above 50°C. Now even Speedfan can't find the temp sensors of my core unit/CPU/GPU anymore after the last  time it went in hybernation mode (it smelled kinda burned too).

So my question is if this problem, the overheating and gradually decreasing preformance, can be solved somehow or if it could be that my Hardware got damage because of the heat.

I searched a long time before asking the question here but i can't find anything that works and the preformance of my laptop keeps getting worser.

So in the picture you can see al the programs and background programs running with an avarage temp of 50°C while it used to run it faster and cooler (39°C). Also you can see it doesn't show my temperature of CPU/GPU anymore.

Thank you for the reply. I did the instructions you gave me and it helped for the temperature. It's back to a steady 40°C. I also reinstalled some drivers and did a BIOS update and this seemed to help my performance issues.

With the reinstallement of the drivers Speedfan also found my core/GPU/CPU back.
