HP Laptop HP-17-BY3065ST
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The case hinges on this laptop are so stiff that the screen broke loose from the unit. ONE MONTH out of warranty (of course). The unit is I had to open the unit as it was making nasty crackling noises when the screen was moved at all. It turns out the screw mounts were totally destroyed (the hinge mounts to the keyboard cover). I had to order an aftermarket unit and successfully replaced it BUT, I had to adjust the tension on the hinges to allow less restriction of movement. I have a 15 inch HP and I see the same issue.

Anyone else having this issue?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,

This seems to be a hardware related issue with the hinge assembly and in order to fix this issue, the Hinge assembly needs to be replaced. As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to sort this out.
