I wanted to install SSD in my laptop. After contacting Support, they shared me the service manual for the model which states that the M2 SSD type is SATA. (Page #2)

I opened the back panel and saw that the M2 socket had only one notch(M Key).
M2 socket
But according to my understanding, SATA sockets should have M+B keys.
How can I verify the SSD type to be used?

I believe your machine is an HP Pavilion 14-bf125tx. It does not support NVMe M.2 SSD's. It supports M.2 SATA SSD's and the following products are fully compatible

Many thanks for taking your valuable time to answer my query. I visited the link that you shared. The SSDs shown in that link has 2 notches, while the socket in my laptop has only one notch. Can you please clarify why is it so?
