Subject: Urgent: Laptop Camera Not Detected  – HP 15s-fq5111TU

Dear HP Support Team,

I am facing an issue with my HP laptop camera, and I request your assistance in creating a service complaint.

Laptop Details:
Model: HP 15s-fq5111TU
Operating System: Windows 11
Issue Type: Hardware – Webcam not detected
Location: >Do not include the product serial number or any private information<

Problem Description:
My laptop’s built-in camera stopped working immediately .
Since then, the Camera app always shows this error:

0xA00F4244 – No cameras are attached.

The webcam is completely missing in Device Manager, and my laptop does not detect any internal camera hardware.

To confirm the problem, I reinstalled Windows 11, updated all drivers, checked privacy settings, and installed HP Support Assistant, but the issue still remains unchanged.

Conclusion:
This clearly indicates a hardware connection issue, most likely the webcam ribbon cable becoming loose or disconnected during the screen replacement.

Request:
I visited the HP Authorized Service Center in Tirupati, and they advised me to contact HP Support to generate a Service Request (SR).

Please create a service complaint for this issue and guide the Tirupati HP service center to inspect and fix the webcam ribbon connection or replace the necessary part.

This is affecting my online classes/interviews/exams, so I kindly request quick assistance.

Thank you,

Hi @BHANUCHANDAR1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

Did the camera stop working immediately after the screen replacement, or was there a delay

When you open Device Manager, do you see any “Unknown device” entries under USB or Imaging devices

Have you noticed any other issues with the display or sensors after the repair

Has the service centre already inspected the laptop physically, or did they only advise you to contact HP Support

These details will help ensure the service request is complete and correctly categorized as a hardware‑level failure.

In the meantime, here are a few quick checks just to rule out any remaining software possibilities:

 1. BIOS Camera Toggle

Some HP models have a camera enable/disable option in BIOS.

  • Restart the laptop
  • Press Esc → F10 for BIOS
  • Look under System Configuration or Security for a camera toggle
  • Make sure it’s Enabled

 2. Check for HP Privacy Camera Switch

Some HP laptops have a physical privacy shutter or a keyboard key (often F8 or F10) that disables the camera.

  • Make sure no shutter is closed
  • Press the camera key once to toggle it

 3. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Turn off the laptop
  • Press Esc repeatedly → choose F2 (HP PC Hardware Diagnostics)
  • Run a Component Test → Camera
If the test says, “No camera detected,” it strongly confirms a hardware disconnection.

 4. Windows Optional Updates

Sometimes camera firmware updates appear under:
Settings → Windows Update → Advanced options → Optional updates

I hope this helps.
