Hi,
I have googled this for hours and cant find any information that solves my issue.
Looking to get a second power adaptor for my ProBook 440 G2, I checked the supplied adaptor and it says "replace with 693711-001". The model number of my current adaptor is 756413-003. Not sure why it needs to be replaced with a different part number but anyway.
I then purchased a genuine HP 693711-001 adaptor from ebay. No where on the unit does it actually have these numbers, its part number is listed on the back as 463552-002.
My problem is this, the original adaptor is 19.5V and 3.33A, the new unit is 18.5V and 3.5A. All the information I can find on google suggests that there are numerous sellers who are selling 693711-001 adaptors and they are all rated at 18.5V.
My questions are as follows:
1) Is it OK to use this new adaptor with my laptop? It seems odd that HP would supply different voltaged adaptors for the same laptop.
2) Does anyone know why HP recommends replacing your original part with a completely different part number, this seems so confusing especially if the specs are different.
3) Is it odd that the number 693711-001 isnt printed anywhere on the new adaptor?
Thanks in advance for your help,
James

From time to time, vendore may change the specs of their products to improve performance or funtionality. We all know vendors supply adapters with voltage can vary +/- 5% to 7%.

Thanks for your help.
Between the info you've provided and what I can find on google, it appears that this new adaptor will work OK with my computer even though its slightly different to the adaptor originally supplied with it.
The HP links you provided are handy (thank you) but no specs were available on the search results to see voltages etc, at least from what I could see when I selected Australia as my country.
