Hello, I'm trying to see if there is a way to upgrade the RAM on my laptop. It currently has 8gb but can only run 7.75gb.

That is normal for nearly all computers from small to big. Big brother such as IBM used to use system RAM for HSA but now machines have their own RAM BUT customers still have to pay one way or the other.

You can upgrade your machine to 32GB using compatible RAM

1. To 16GB: add same existing 8GB to slot 2 or using  Crucial 8GB RAM

2. To 32GB: Using compatible RAM such as  Crucial 32GB Ram kit,

You can add only 16GB (to have 8GB+16GB = 24GB) but not recommended

Regards.

Just to clarify it needs to be DDR4-3200 SODIMM? There some other options but it’s a lower number.
