Hello, the original screen of my laptop is a 15.6" 1366*768p 60 Hz SVA (actually TN) panel, but I am thinking of replacing it with an IPS panel with a resolution of 1920*1080p.
Is HP 15-bs153nt compatible with IPS panels with 1920*1080p resolution?

Hi @Kullanıcı,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your concern!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Your HP 15-bs153nt originally comes with a 1366x768 TN panel, but many laptops from this series can support an IPS 1920x1080 (FHD) upgrade. Here's what you need to check before upgrading:
First, make sure your current panel has a 30-pin eDP connector and that the replacement IPS panel also uses a 30-pin eDP connector. The new panel should be 15.6 inches with the same physical mounting points. Some HP models lock display resolutions in BIOS, so check if your laptop supports FHD resolution natively.
Next, consider cable compatibility. If your laptop has a single-lane eDP cable, it may not support 1080p. Some models require a dual-lane eDP cable for FHD screens, so you might need to upgrade the display cable as well.

Hi @Kuroi_Kenshi,
Thank you for your detailed response and assistance!
The current panel model number B156XTN07.1 and has a 30-pin eDP connector. eDP cable has product number DC02002WZ00 REV:3.0.
I need a bit more guidance on how to check the points you mentioned. Can you help specifically with the following:
How to check if my laptop supports FHD resolution natively and if the display resolution is locked in the BIOS?
How to determine if my laptop has a single-lane or dual-lane eDP cable and if I need to upgrade the display cable for an FHD screen?

Hi @Kullanıcı,
To determine if your laptop supports FHD resolution with Intel UHD Graphics 620, confirm potential limitations like BIOS restrictions or display cable type. Restart the laptop and enter the BIOS (F10 during boot) to check for a resolution option. If 1920x1080 isn’t listed, BIOS may not support FHD.
Verify your eDP cable type by opening the laptop and checking the cable label near the display connector. Single-lane eDP cables only support HD, whereas dual-lane cables allow for FHD panels. You can also search online for "HP 15-bs153nt eDP cable FHD upgrade" to see if compatible dual-lane cables are available for your model.
If FHD support is confirmed after any cable changes, install an FHD screen such as the B156HAN02.1 or N156HCE-EAA (30-pin eDP, IPS). Ensure connector placement matches your setup before installation.
Let me know if you'd like further help!

I checked the BIOS but there is no resolution related option in the BIOS.
I searched the internet for the display cable with its product number, but I could not find any information about whether the cable was single or dual lane.
Note 1: Photos of the display cable and panel are attached.
According to the information on the Panelook website, the interface signals of the B156XTN07.1 model and the N156HCA-EAA Rev.C1 model are the same. Do you think this panel will work compatible?
Note 2: While researching the FHD panel, I found 2 HP laptop models with the FHD SVA panel produced with the same motherboard and processor: 15-bs130nc and 15-ac170nd.

Hi @Kullanıcı,
Thank you for the response.
If you're trying to verify whether the N156HCA-EAA Rev.C1 will work:
Both have a 30-pin eDP interface, so they should be compatible in terms of connection.
However, since your BIOS lacks resolution settings, FHD support might still depend on your laptop's firmware and motherboard.
Did you already test with an external 1080p monitor to see if FHD works? That can confirm if your Intel UHD 620 GPU and motherboard allow 1080p output.
Your laptop can likely support an FHD IPS panel, but eDP cable compatibility is the key factor.
If your current eDP cable is single-lane, upgrade it to a dual-lane before installing the new panel.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for your answers.
I tried connecting the laptop to the FHD TV with an HDMI cable. When I select the TV screen in the Windows 11 display settings, the 1920x1080p option appears and works without any problems. Even when I select the screen duplicate from the mirroring options, the laptop's screen can also be selected as 1920x1080p.
The eDP cable seems to be single-lane, but I think it will support the FHD IPS panel as you said.
I will buy an FHD IPS panel and try if it works.

Hi @Kullanıcı,
That sounds like a solid plan! Since the FHD resolution works fine with an external display, upgrading to an FHD IPS panel should be a promising move. Let me know how it goes or if you need any further assistance!
