I was playing valorant in my laptop(HP Omen 16). Normally in battery mode laptop works perfectly well. But when adaptor is connected (power mode) when playing valorant laptop's screen and keyboard suddenly stoped working just like going to sleep mode but through my bluetooth earphones I can hear the sounds and with mouse I can shoot with my gun. But screen and keyboard not working. I tried closing the lid removing the power supply some times works , pc will come back just like coming back from sleep mode. But now nothing is working. Keyboard is also not working so I can't even power off my laptop. Can anyone figure out what is causing this issue and how to rectify this issue. Still my pc is running with that black screen and unresponsive keyboard but earphones still playing the sounds. What should I do to atleast restart the pc.

Hi @_Romero_,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Omen 16 laptop is experiencing a power management issue, which might be related to the power settings, GPU switching, or thermal throttling, especially when plugged into the adapter during gaming. Here are a few steps to help you resolve the issue.
Force Restart:
Since the keyboard and screen are unresponsive, try performing a hard reset by pressing and holding the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the laptop completely shuts down. This should force the system to turn off, even with a black screen.
Check for Overheating:
Ensure that the laptop is not overheating. Check if the vents are clear, and if it's warm to the touch. If it is, let it cool down for a few minutes before powering it back on.
Boot into Safe Mode:
After forcing the restart, try booting into Safe Mode to check if the issue persists:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it on and immediately press F8 (or Shift + F8) to enter advanced startup options.
- Select Safe Mode and check if the screen and keyboard work in this mode.
Power Settings Fix:
Adjust Power Plan Settings:
It seems like the laptop is going into a sleep-like mode or encountering power management issues when plugged into the adapter. Here's how to adjust the settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Choose High Performance or Balanced power plan.
- Click on Change plan settings next to the selected plan.
- Choose Change advanced power settings.
- Look for Processor power management and set both Maximum processor state and Minimum processor state to 100%.
- Make sure that Sleep settings are set to Never when plugged in.
Disable Hybrid Sleep and Fast Startup:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Click on Choose what the power buttons do.
- Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended).
- Under Sleep, disable Allow hybrid sleep.
- Save changes and restart.

Graphics Settings:
- If your laptop uses dual GPUs (integrated and discrete), the laptop might be defaulting to the integrated GPU when on battery, but switching to the discrete GPU (NVIDIA) when plugged in. This could be causing the issue.
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Under Manage 3D settings, ensure the laptop is set to use the discrete GPU for Valorant (or any game you're playing).
- You can also update your GPU drivers through GeForce Experience or via Device Manager.
Additional Steps:
Update Drivers:
- Ensure all your drivers (especially the graphics driver, keyboard drivers, and BIOS) are up to date. You can do this via Device Manager or by using HP Support Assistant to check for updates.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security and ensure your Windows is fully updated, including optional updates for drivers.
Check BIOS Settings:
Sometimes BIOS settings related to power management can cause such issues. Ensure that the Battery Optimization and Power Management settings in BIOS are configured correctly. You can access the BIOS by pressing F10 when powering on the laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Actually Now the laptop is not responding to anything except charging symbol. I can't turn it on, not even force start by pressing power button to 15 seconds. I contacted HP Support and the said me to try pressing win + v + power button and win + b + power , then also no response. After that they said me to try enter + backspace or shift + backspace (don't remember which key exactly) but when I pressed it fan rotated for 2 seconds and stopped no response after it. Actually this issue is happening for the 3rd time after I brought this laptop. First time they took it to service center and rectified the issue. Second time when the same issue happened HP replaced the motherboard but still now the issue is happening again.
