Quite a curious problem has occurred in my Laptop. As stated in the title the laptop turns off (completely cuts out) when pressure placed on the palm rest. More specifically there is one point on the top right of the track pad - maybe 1cm to the right and up - that will cut out the laptop. Its definitely killing the machine as when i reboot it goes to Windows 10 recovery. I don't want to turn the laptop back on in case there is a short happening.
Does anyone know any fixes without opening the laptop or if I have to what I should look for? Is there anything in particular at the region described that could be causing this?
Thanks
Alan

Hello @AlanJaf,
That's a bit of an interesting issue indeed. Unfortunately, your only choice seems to be opening up the laptop and inspecting it internally.
When looking at an exploded view of your laptop's internals, I can clrealy see that the area points to the hard drive/its connection area:
#6 is the hard drive
Unfortunately, it looks like either the SATA connection to the hard drive is loose or the cable is physically damaged at this point.
Steps to accessing the hard drive are located on pages 49-50 of your computer's Maintenance and Service Guide.
It will reference steps to removing the battery, optical drive, and the bottom cover.
I suggest you look into the cable and inspect it - ensuring that there is a tight fit. If the connector is damaged, you may want to consider purchasing the hard drive hardware kit which includes the brackets and connectors.
Hope this helps,
Eddy
