Hello there!

I wanted to ask that can I upgrade the CPU of my laptop to a new processor and if it is possible then do I have to purchase a new motherboard also?. If yes then kindly suggest me some options.

I also wanted to ask that what socket does my laptop's motherboard has. It is currently running on i3-3217u.

Is it an LGA1151?

Hi:

The processor is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded unless you replace the motherboard with one listed in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual that may come with a better processor.
