Hi, 

I use a hot 15-bs0xx notebook the 4gb ram corei3 variant and I'd like to upgrade to the 8gb or 16gb are there any specific requirements when getting the ram 

And I've not used my notebook in a while does that take anytoll on it's battery life?

What EXACTLY your 15-bs0xx  ? Same series BUT depending on your machine to be able to upgrade RAM to the right amount. Please use the following instructions to find out the model/product of your machine:

Just check if its DDR3 or DDR4 and buy the same one of any manufacturer. Task manager > Performance Tab > Memory > Look at top right.
