My laptop is getting very slow to do things, it has 4GB RAM and seriously needs to be upgraded, but the question I have is, can it take more memory?

OK,
Your notebook supports max 8GB of DDR3L 1600MHz RAM
There is one slot, so you would need to replace the 4GB module with an 8GB module.
Example

On page 45 of the service manual you can see the steps to install the drive

The notebook will never be real fast because of the CPU. I would replace the Hard Drive with a cheap 2.5" SATA 3 SSD and perform a clean install of the OS. It would give a notcable boost to the everyday performance of the machine.
Hope it helps,
David

Hi,
Can you provide the exact model or product number so we can take a look at the specs
It depends on the CPU if the max RAM 8, 16 or 32GB
if you do not have an SSD in the machine, maybe one can be installed.
Here is how you can find the exact model or product number
