Hi
I have a HP ENVY LAPTOP 13-Aq1xxx product: 6VC07AV
Had notebook for about 2 months.
After purchase, I charged the battery to full.
Used it with adapter for a couple of hours, then used battery for 1 hour. Recharged it to full.
Put notebook away for 1 week.
Note: I've been using my dell Xps13 when not using the HP laptop.
Get HP notebook on the 6th day. Power up without adapter. Cannot power on. Use adapter. Battery shows 8% availability left. I know I did not have power on when stowed away 5 days ago.
So I fully charged battery. And powered off. Left HP notebook again idle for 5 days.
On the 6th day power on and battery drained again down to 8 or 10 % (don't remember exact number).
Why is my battery draining during idle time?
For the 2 months I had the laptop, I've only used the notebook with batter once.
Power option for battery is balance 5 minutes turn off display. 15 minutes to sleep.
I am positive, I tic the power button (top left) to off before stowing it away. There was no light displayed.
Is there something I need to do first before I power off in battery mode?
Is it actually in sleep mode after I tic the power off button?
Anything needs to be checked in BIOS that maybe causing the battery draining?
I've tried to keep current with all software updates when in use.
Thanks.
TC.

@tomx2x Greetings from the HP Community!
Resetting the ACPI battery driver should take care of this.
There will be a hard reset mixed in as well, so the two methods combined typically help a lot with battery issues.
1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.
2. Expand batteries.
3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.
4. Shut down the computer.
5. Disconnect the charger.
6. Remove the battery.
7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.
8. Insert the battery only.
9. Attempt to turn the battery on.
If this had an impact, it should behave differently.
If not, Press the power button and then tap the F2 key to invoke the startup menu.
Choose and click on the F10 key to invoke the BIOS.
Use the System Configuration tab. Disable USB Charging and press the F10 key to save the changes and boot into Windows.
Let me know how that pans out,

Hi.
The first 9 steps I did not perform. I believe the battery is soldered in the laptop.
If not, let me know and i'll open the back cover.
I disabled charging in the bios and re-booted in windows.
Do you want me to keep it disabled for a couple of days then boot into windows with battery on and charger discounted? When should i enable charging battery in bios?
Note: If the charger is plugged in its port every morning, the percent remains 100%.

@tomx2x The battery is removable: click here to watch a video that should help you with the same, that said, you can disable USB charging permanently to avoid the battery drain during startup process, as the battery will drain if its left on, that's how it works, by design.
I hope that helps!
