My laptop is currently sitting at 69% charge while plugged in. When clicking on the battery icon in the task bar, there is no message that pops up saying that it is not charging. 

I have restarted my laptop several times, removed the battery and then restarted, and updated the BIOS. Running an HP battery check showed that the battery was in fine condition so I do not know what else to do with it.

As it would appear now, it's charged to 93% despite not saying that it is charging or displaying any indication other than it being plugged in.

I understand the battery is not charging.

  • Have you tried using an alternate AC Adapter and check if the issue persists?

Reinstalling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps: 

 

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

 

Restart the computer and check.
