HP Pavilion - 14-al118na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The battery charging capacity in my 3-year-old Pavilion 14-al118na laptop (on mains power for 90% of the time in use, and used up to 10-12 hours a day) has dwindled down to a maximum 12%, and keeps shrinking.

Is this normal after three years, and any tips on which battery I should buy to replace the current one?

Thank you very much,
Nicmira

Hi,

Yes, it is quite "normal". I usually replace the batteries in my notebooks every 18-24 months as I will notice the loss of capacity a lot.

The part number for the battery is 849908-850

You can try an online search with part number to find a compatibvle battery

Example:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=849908-850&ref=nb_sb_noss

or an original battery from parts resellers

Example:

https://uk.eetgroup.com/search?query=849908-850

On page 34of service manual you can see the steps to replace the battery

Hope it helps,
