HP envy 15t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laptop doesn't charge beyond 57%. If you unplug and plug it again after 57% then it adds up to 58%-60%. If I repeat this process then, laptop get charged up to 61%, and that's all. The battery indicator doesn't say "plugged in, not charging" instead, the  indicator says " 57% available, plugged in" when it stops to charge.

I have tried almost all the processes found in the hp support community. The HP battery check test shows that both the  battery and AC adapter are functioning properly.

Please help.

Thank you.

@Santosh1234565, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • Have you tried using an alternate AC Adapter and check if the issue persists?

Reinstalling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps:

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

Restart the computer and check for the issue.

If the issue persists, I recommend you update the BIOS from this link, enter your Product number or name.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have, however, already tried those processes, except using an alternative AC adapter. So, I have ordered another AC adapter from Amazon. I will let you know if that works.

Update: the new charger also didn't charge beyond 50-57%. So, the charger will be returned now.

I have tried everything that was suggested but nothing worked. Could it be a battery problem? The battery test, however, had shown "passed".

I have seen this type of problem being reported in the forum dated back to 2015. It seems Hp doesn't have found a solution to this problem yet.

Update:

Although the battery diagnostic test showed that my laptop battery passed the test, my problem is now solved after replacing it with a replacement battery that I bought from eBay. Yay! The hp store didn't have the battery.

Thank you, everyone, for chiming in!

Santosh.

Hey, I've got the same issue. Can i get a link to the eBay listing? I'm having this issue with a replacement from eBay, so I want to see if there's a difference. Also, what laptop do you have?
