HP AM101NE 14 inch
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

My cousin has an HP laptop with this model: HP AM101NE 14 inches. This is the observation he has had:

1. Downloaded the latest bios update from HP website. It has been an executable file.

2. Executed the file inside Windows and the update process has started.

3. The process has restarted the laptop and has entered into the BIOS environment automatically.

4. There has been an `Apply Update` button on which my cousin has clicked.

5. Update has finished and a single button is displayed like this: `Continue Startup`.

6. Apparently, above this button something like this has been written: `You may see a black screen for some minutes`.

7. The problem is that the black screen has been shown for hours.

8. After some hours, my cousin has done a hard-reset by keeping the power button pressed. The turned it on again.

9. At this point, apparently the laptop has gone into a boot loop. I mean periodically showing a gray screen and then turning off and then showing a gray screen again. The loop has continued endlessly.

10. Tried taking out the laptop battery and unplugging it from power source. But not helpful.

11. No beep and no kind of sound message is heard. Just the sound of the CPU fan.

12. Searched about solutions. It is suggested to take out the batter of the motherboard. I mean the battery that is responsible for the clock of the motherboard. Taking it and reinserting it.

Now, I'm just trying to help him. Can anyone provide some hints. Thanks 🙂

Removing the RTC battery and letting it sit for at least 20-30 minutes has some chance of correcting the issue.

See p. 54 of the Service Manual here:

This is the Service Manual posted for your Model series and will be accurate for the placement of the RTC battery.

If this does not work (and it may not) post back and we can try some heroic recovery techniques.

Thanks for you reply 🙂

Unfortunately the suggested approach didn't work. We'd appreciate any other recovery techniques.

Turn off the computer and be sure that the AC adapter is connected to power. Press and hold the Windows + B keys, and then simultaneously press the power button. After 2 to 3 seconds, continue to press and hold the Windows + B keys, but release the power button.

This approach didn't work too. Can you suggest more approaches? We ran out of options. Thanks.

If you click the link in my last message it has some other suggestions for restoring the BIOS.
