Hi @yq,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
There could be several reasons why your HP laptop is not charging when connected to a monitor through HDMI. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
- Check the power source: Make sure that the laptop is connected to a power source, and that the power adapter is plugged in properly. Also, check that the power outlet is working properly.
- Check the HDMI cable: Ensure that the HDMI cable you are using is not damaged or faulty. Try using a different HDMI cable to see if the issue persists.
- Check the monitor: Verify that the monitor is turned on and functioning correctly. Make sure that the input source on the monitor is set to HDMI.
- Check the laptop settings: Go to the "Power Options" settings on your laptop and check that the "Battery Saver" mode is turned off. Also, check that the power settings are configured correctly so that the laptop charges while it is connected to an external display.
- Update drivers: Check if there are any updates available for the drivers related to the HDMI port or the power management system on your laptop, and install them if necessary.
- Check the laptop's charging port: Make sure that the charging port on your laptop is not damaged or dirty. Clean the port carefully with a soft brush or cloth.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
