Hi @Strikr001
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thank you for explaining the situation so clearly. I’m truly sorry you’re dealing with this—it’s understandably frustrating when your HP Victus charges only while powered off, especially after replacing the battery, charger, and charging port. That shows real dedication, and you deserve a solution that works.
Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to help restore normal charging behavior while the laptop is on.
Step-by-Step Fix for Charging Only When Powered Off
1. Perform a Deep Power Reset
This clears embedded controller faults that can block charging logic.
- Power off the laptop completely.
- Disconnect the charger and all peripherals.
- Press and hold the Power button for 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the charger and power on. Check if charging resumes while on.
2. Reset the Embedded Controller via Battery Disconnect
If your model supports it:
- Power off the laptop.
- Press and hold Windows + V, then press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
- Release all keys. If the laptop beeps or flashes, the embedded controller reset has succeeded.
3. Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers
Outdated firmware can interfere with power management.
- Visit the HP Victus 16-s1000 Driver Page
Download and install the latest:- BIOS update
- AMD chipset driver
- Power management driver
- Restart the laptop after each installation.
4. Disable Battery Conservation Features
Some settings may restrict charging while the laptop is active.
- Go to Settings → System → Power & Battery → Battery Saver.
- Turn off Battery Saver and any Smart Charging or Battery Health Manager features.
- If using HP Command Center or HP Support Assistant, check for battery optimization settings and disable them.
5. Check Windows Power Plan
- Go to Control Panel → Power Options.
- Select High Performance or Balanced.
- Click Change plan settings → Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Battery → Plugged in settings and ensure nothing restricts charging.
If the issue persists after these steps, let me know whether the battery icon shows “Plugged in, not charging” or if it disappears entirely—I’ll guide you further based on that.
You're close to restoring full charging functionality.
