Laptop cracked case

I purchased two 17" laptops for my parents. Both laptops have now cracked around the hinge area of the screen. My mothers is worse than that of my dad. But both are getting increasingly harder to open and close.

Bothe work and perform well, its jist the broken case in the same place on both laptops im concerned with.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
