Hi,

Laptop's Serial Number: [removed per Rules Of Participation]

Display screen: 15.6-in, FHD, AntiGlare (1920×1080), WLED, SVA, non-TouchScreen, Spare Part number: 798933-012.

Can I upgrade my screen to IPS display and if i can what would be the part number.

Thankyou

This is the part number for the UWVA screen which is another term for IPS:

15.6-in, FHD, AntiGlare (1920×1080), WLED, UWVA, non-TouchScreen
752920-015

See p. 28 of the Service Manual here:

Manual

HP charges nearly $200 for the part:

https://parts.hp.com/hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=218AACA2A8B84E77BB3090103EE91ABA&SearchIn=P...

At least if you buy from HP. you will know what you are getting. A lot of unscrupulous online sellers offer regular display panels and describe them as IPS or UWVA. Very hard to be sure you are actually getting a premium screen and as you likely already know there is a huge difference between a standard flat panel display and a truly premium one.

This is half the price from a highly rated eBay seller so should actually be an IPS screen:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hp-Pavilion-P-N-752920-015-LED-LCD-Replacement-Screen-15-6-FHD-AG-IPS-Displ...

This would be a drop in replacement for the existing screen. Not too many people do an upgrade like this on what must be a pretty new laptop but it is possible to do.

Hi
Laptop HP Pavilion 15 BC-444TX
Yesterday I got my laptop from amazon (dont have returned policy for laptops). First thing I noticed is horrible SVA display which somehow I missed while purchasing. So now I want to upgrade my SVA pannel to UWVA panel.
- Can I upgrade panel while warranty is on? I am ready to pay panel cost and service charge.?
- Will it be beneficial as I am casual photographer and works on photo and video editing tools some times?

Thanks in advance and forgive me for my bad english.  Posting here because somehow I am not able to create new topic.

Did u upgrade your laptop panel? was it in warranty?

HP Recommended

Yes it was under warranty and i got the display for approx £45 and i did upgrade it and im really v happy with the results. Its very easy to replace but first you need to find the part number of your sva display and try to get the service manual of your system and see if it supports the ips display or not.

U did urself ? Can we buy panel from HP Authorized service center and ask them to replace?
SVA panel is hurting eyes and I really want to get rid of it.

ok so I am able to get supported displays from service manual.
How do I get part no? Here is a panel name:
15.6-inch, FHD (1920 × 1080), WLED, antiglare, slim-flat (3.2 mm), UWVA, eDP, 220 nits

Yes i did it as its not difficult to do and i think you can buy the part from hp but it will be more expensive and now about the part number, if you check the original relly by 'Hoffman' he send me the link for service manual from which i figured out the part number. So probably do some search or try to post a question directly and you might get some information. Hp can do it or not im not sure the best thing is coz ur laptop is new and must be under warranty so call them or chat with the specialist for free and ask them directly.
