Laptop for Child

Hello my daughter is interested in taking Scratch Programming. Someone recommended I get her the HP Stream. Is this laptop going to be ok for programming and simple tasks such as writing papers and Duolingo?

She's only 9 so not mature enough for something real expensive, but she does have a need for it at school. Any suggestions would be great.

Oh she also can't see very well so a lit keyboard and nice screen lighting is important.

These super low end laptops generally do not have a backlit keyboard and the screens are not real bright and clear. If she has eyesight issues a very small laptop with a small screen might not be the way to go. I woud actually suggest a used unit. You could get something even 3 or 4 years old. The tasks she needs to do are not demanding in any way. I was thinking about something with a 14 or 15 inch screen and a good solid backilit keyboard and touchpad like a used Probook or Elitebook. It would be heavier than the Stream but more robust.
