Hi @vaibhav27072000,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion 14 laptop is freezing while being held up in hand, there could be several potential causes for this issue. Below are some troubleshooting steps to help you identify and resolve the problem.
- Overheating: Laptops can freeze or shut down unexpectedly when they overheat. When holding the laptop in your hand, you may inadvertently block the air vents, causing the system to overheat. To fix this, place the laptop on a flat, hard surface that allows proper ventilation and airflow. You can also consider using a cooling pad to help dissipate heat.
- Hardware Issue: There might be a loose or faulty connection within the laptop, leading to freezing when you move it. Make sure all the internal components are properly seated and connected. If you are comfortable doing so, you can open up the laptop and reseat the RAM and storage drives.
- Driver or Software Problem: Outdated or malfunctioning drivers can cause freezing issues. Ensure that all your drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. Additionally, check for any software conflicts or resource-intensive applications that might be causing the freezes.
- System Updates: Check if there are any pending Windows or firmware updates for your laptop. Installing the latest updates might resolve freezing issues caused by known bugs or compatibility problems.
- Malware or Virus: Malware and viruses can cause system instability. Run a thorough scan with your antivirus software to detect and remove any malicious programs.
- Resource Usage: Monitor the system's resource usage (CPU, RAM, and disk) to see if there's any unusual spike or high utilization when the laptop freezes. You can use the built-in Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) on Windows to check resource usage.
- BIOS Update: If all else fails, consider checking the HP support website for BIOS updates. Sometimes, BIOS updates can address hardware-related issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
