@edborek, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
(Looks like your HP Pavilion took ‘power nap’ too seriously—except it skipped the ‘nap’ and went straight to hibernation. Let’s wake it up before it starts demanding a bedtime story 😅!)
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the issue with your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Check Windows Power Settings
- Go to Control Panel → Power Options.
- Click Change plan settings on the active power plan.
- Select Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Sleep → Hibernate after and Sleep after. Set both to Never (for testing).
- Expand Power buttons and lid, ensure Lid close action and Power button action are set correctly.
- Expand PCI Express → Link State Power Management, set to Off.
- Click Apply and OK.
2. Disable Fast Startup
- Open Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do.
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
- Uncheck Turn on fast startup.
- Save changes and restart.
3. Update Graphics and Chipset Drivers
- Go to Device Manager → Display adapters.
- Right-click your Intel UHD Graphics and select Update driver.
- Do the same for NVIDIA/AMD GPU (if available).
- Expand System Devices and update Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) and Chipset drivers.
- Update the pc with HP Support Assistant.
- Find driver updates on HP website.
4. Check BIOS Settings & Update BIOS
- Restart and enter BIOS (press F10 at boot).
- Look for Power Management or Advanced Power Options and disable Deep Sleep or similar settings.
- Ensure USB Wake Support is enabled.
- Check HP’s support site for a BIOS update and install it if available.
5. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
- Power off the laptop.
- Press Power and immediately start pressing F2.
- Select Component Tests → Power.
- Run the AC Adapter Test and Battery Test.
- If issues are found, HP may recommend replacing the battery or power adapter.
6. Check for Windows Corruption
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run:
sfc /scannow - If errors are found but can’t be fixed, run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
7. Test with a Different Power Adapter
- If possible, try another HP power adapter and see if the issue persists.
If the problem still occurs, let me know if there are any error messages, LED blinking patterns, or other symptoms.
We hope our assistance has been helpful!
