I have a defective HP Envy laptop that is only about two years old. One day I heard a crack as the laptop was being opened, and one of the screws came out and the screen popped open near the hinge. Stopped by a local repair shop and the estimated repair would cost almost half of what I originally paid for the HP Envy. Apparently this is a known issue with these devices.
I had bad experiences with two HP Pavillion laptops before I got the Envy (loud fan straight from the box, overheating). Three strikes and you're out HP! I've been telling friends and family to steer clear of this company and just spend the extra $100-$200 and get a Macbook or something else.
