So my computer has the broken HP hinge issue that is common to HP laptops documented in this forum and all over the internet, just Google this and the Southern District of Florida. I have talked to HP people on their Facebook page, their support phone number, and this forum and have been quoted anywhere between free and $400 to fix a known design defect in HP's hinge.
When I finally got an HP rep to respond here, the first rep offered to fix the hinge for free, we got the information setup to have a box shipped out and all of a sudden a new rep starts talking to me and the first rep goes completely silent.
The second rep proceeds to tell me I will have to pay to get the hinge fixed. When I told the second rep the first rep had already agreed to fix it for free and I had the conversation documented, they agreed to fix it for free. Then, the second rep told me they may not be able to fix it due to the common corporate scapegoat "supply chain issues" and offered me a $125 voucher to buy another HP computer. We again, got everything setup for me to send the computer in for HP to attempt to fix the hinge but just like the first rep, the second goes completely silent.
So let's see if this gets any attention from HP. For anyone else who comes across this trying to get their hinge fixed, good luck, you will need it.

DELL had a simular issue on one of their models and there was no solution, since out of warranty. I recently purchased my HP via theirwebsite, as my 5 year old DELL had HD issues. Doing fixing on a known issue from mfg, is long gone. CS is the thing of the past. Just my opion
