Was wondering if anyone else is seeing major issues with laptop hinge points breaking? I am a computer tech that repairs computers. In the last three years so I am seeing far too many hinge points breaking due to case cracking. They changed the case a few years back and moved the through screw that goes through the bottom cover. The through screw used to be much closer to the sides but they decided to move them way in and then cover them with that adhesive rubber strip. This is causing stress that cracks the bottom cover screw points at the hinge. Once that happens that hinge then starts working back and forth and tears the hinge attach points loose from the top palm rest. This is a huge engineering flaw. I do not even recommend that customers buy HP laptops because of this. Hope someone from HP reads this.

Hi!
Thanks for the reply. I'm a computer tech and know how to fix the problem. I was just sending out the message hoping that someone from HP would see it and talk to their engineers. The design on the newer version laptops are flawed. They moved the screw that goes through the bottom case way over too far from the hinge. I see these same laptops with the same issue over and over, especially on the 17" models. This case/hinge needs a better design. They also need to loosen up the hinges slightly. Those hinges are just too tight.
Thanks,
Mike
