Hi @ARSA2025,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry to hear that your HP Pavilion 15-cs0053cl is freezing frequently. It must be frustrating to deal with that, especially when you're trying to get work done. Let's work through this and try to pinpoint the cause. Here are a few questions to help better understand the situation:

  • Does the laptop freeze during specific tasks or programs, or is it happening randomly?
  • Have you noticed any overheating or unusual fan noise before the laptop freezes?
  • Did this issue start after installing any recent updates or software?

Let's try these steps.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Open Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and look for any processes that are consuming a lot of CPU or memory.
  • Close any unnecessary programs that could be overloading the system.

Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Visit the HP Support page and download the latest drivers for your laptop model.
  • Also, check if there are any BIOS updates available, as they often resolve stability issues.

Run System Diagnostics:

  • HP laptops have built-in diagnostics tools. Press Esc or F2 during startup to enter HP Diagnostics.
  • Run a full system check to identify any hardware issues like a failing hard drive or memory problems.

Check for Malware or Bloatware:

  • Perform a full system scan using Windows Defender or a trusted third-party antivirus program.
  • Sometimes, malware or unnecessary programs running in the background can cause the system to freeze.

Perform a Clean Boot:

  • Open System Configuration by typing msconfig in the Start menu.
  • Under the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all.
  • Go to the Startup tab and disable all startup programs. Restart the laptop and check if it still freezes. This helps identify if the issue is caused by third-party software.
