HP Pavilion 15-au183sa

My Laptop makes weird noises when charging. It only happends from time to time, not every day. I don't understand if there are any specific conditions that cause this. The laptop charges normally, but the sounds are too loud to ignore. The laptop only makes the sounds for a few minutes and then stops, and it doesn't happen again for a few hours. I've run the built-in battery and power tests from BIOS, it didn't detect any issues. I'm sure it's not the fan or the hard drive, because I've had a look inside. I've also tried using two different chargers, makes no difference. The problem doesn't occur if the laptop is turned off.

Hi @shnip10284

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are hearing an unusual noise from the speakers. To help isolate whether the issue is related to the hardware, I would request you to run the Hardware Diagnostics from the BIOS/UEFI Diagnostics menu and share the test results for both the Audio and Fan components.

Once the diagnostics are complete, please let me know whether the tests passed or failed, along with any error IDs or failure codes displayed. This information will help us determine the next appropriate troubleshooting steps.

Hello! Thank you for your message! I've run the audio test and the power test too as the issue only occurs when the laptop is charging. The fan test is unavailable, but I can assure that I've opened the laptop and had seen that the fan is spinning normally.

Hi @shnip10284

Thank you for responding.

I appreciate you sharing the details. However, since the issue persists while the device is charging and the battery hardware test has also failed, it indicates that the battery may be experiencing a hardware-related issue.

I would recommend contacting your nearest HP Authorized Service Center to have the device inspected and the battery repaired or replaced, as required. If the device is out of warranty, applicable repair or replacement charges may apply. https://support.hp.com/in-en/help/service-center

Have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.

Thank you, I will look into this. As the noises only happen once in 2-3 days it's hard to identify the exact cause, but I'll see.
