I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx laptop with Windows 7 that is at least 7-8 years old. The product number shows as LW262UA#ABA if that helps out.
From time to time, it will make noises like an airplane trying to take off. But only when in it's in use. It's happened many times over the years and usually goes away somehow when it happens but it just started doing it again yesterday. It's so annoying and I don't know how to get rid of it...any suggestions? I have barely anything on my laptop that takes up space. I feel like I've tried many things like power saving mode, etc. I don't have a vacuum to clean out anything, please keep that in mind. Please help!!

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
use the following steps:
- Shut down the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat.
For more information on reducing heat inside your computer, see Reducing Heat Inside the PC.
- After you remove the dust, turn on the computer. If the error message persists, continue with these steps.
- Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in memory and enable you to use the computer again, even if only for a short time to access and save any important files before service.
For more information on performing a hard reset, see Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues.
- In some cases, updating the BIOS might help prevent this error from occurring. For more information on how to update the BIOS, see Updating the BIOS.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Echo_Lake, thank you for your reply and for your help!
So a few days ago I went through and did some of your suggestions. I cleaned the exterior vents by blowing air through them and I also did the hard reset. Please note though, your notes suggested something like "if you continue receiving error message"...I never received an error message about this. Just the fan noise being loud....and also forgot to mention in my original post that over the years I've noticed my laptop will always be warm/hot when I set it in my lap instead of when I normally use it on a table (it probably is the same way on a table, but I don't notice it obviously)
So by doing the vent cleaning and hard reset a few days ago, I guess the noise part is a little better? Hard to tell because sometimes it comes and goes you know? I didn't do the last suggestion of updating BIOS because I got scared when the instructions talked about installing a BIOS incorrectly can mess up the laptop. But I actually tried doing it still just wasn't successful....on your link it has several ways of doing so I tried the first two of four but they didn't quite work for me? The first option says to update it automatically using device manager? I tried that but there was no part on my computer about "expanding the firmware" option to click? So then I tried the second option of updating it automatically using HP Support Assistant. But on this option, the prompts were also different? I didn't have the "my devices tab" like it says to keep proceeding. When I open mine, on home it just says "maintain, troubleshoot, learn and get assistance". So I clicked "maintain" and I actually came to a screen that said recommended actions needed? So maybe that is the same screen roughly in the end? But none of the 6 options listed said anything about updating BIOS. My recommended actions were:
1. Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver
2. Ralink 2011 802.11 b/g/n Wifi Adapter
3. Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver (again)
4. HP Quick Launch Software
5. HP Power Manager Utility Software
6. HP Software Framework
So I'm not sure if these issues deal with it but none of these said Update Bios or something to that effect.
Thoughts? Thanks again for working with me! I appreciate it.
