Just wondering what exactly my HP Notebook 15 model number "-dy1018" means?

Hi,

I think it's the model series and the number then has no meaning. When Dv6 series was released then it was Dv6-1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000. 2000, 3000, 4000 series used to be the Nehalem(gen1), 6000 series used to be Sandy Bridge(gen2) and 7000 series was an Ivy Bridge(gen3). Dy is probably a model description. There used to be a single letter but there are two now. 1018 could be an early model but I wouldn't be bothered about it.
