HP envy x360 2-in-1

We have an HP Ency x360 2-in-1, i7-1255U, 512 SSD, 16 GB ram - We have a USB-c hub that has connected - two monitors connected by HDMI, Ethernet, and a wireless mouse dongle. When we unplug the laptop to use it as a mobile device it will not boot up when reconnected to the HUB. If we need to reboot, the laptop will not boot up to the connected screens - we always have to open the laptop and sign in and then it goes to the attached monitors. I am not sure if this is a hardware issue or if I need to change some settings. To be fair the HUB is something cheap I got from Amazon. I would welcome advice about the best HUB to get for this laptop. Please help, this is frustrating.

You cam close to the crux of the issue. "To be fair the HUB is something cheap I got from Amazon."

Unfortunately, unless you identify your notebook with a complete HP product name or preferably the system SKU, it is next to impossible to assist you.

Boot to Windows and in the search box type in MSINFO and click on the system information app icon that appears above. Look for the system SKU.  Kindly provide that in your reply to your thread.

I note and must advise you that using other than a top tier consumer laptop or a mid to upper tier enterprise laptop you will not be likely to find a USB Type-C hub that performs as you expect it to.  Your expectation would more than likely require a laptop to have USB type-C  DP and Thunderbolt capable ports. Your laptop's Core  i7-1255U does support that, but without identification I cannot say that about your laptop.
