Laptop not turning on

Hi @Sukhjitldh

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sharing that—when a laptop refuses to power on, it can feel like everything’s come to a halt.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help bring it back to life. No stress—we’ll take it one step at a time. 😊

🔌 Step 1: Try a Hard Reset

This clears any residual power and can often revive an unresponsive system.

  1. Disconnect everything: Unplug the power adapter and remove any USB devices or SD cards.
  2. Hold the power button: Press and hold it for 30 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power adapter only (leave the battery out if it’s removable).
  4. Try powering on.

🔍 Step 2: Check for Signs of Life

  • Power light: Does the charging light near the power port turn on?
  • Fan noise or keyboard lights: Any signs the laptop is trying to boot?
  • External monitor test: If the screen stays black, try connecting to an external display to rule out a screen issue.

🔧 Step 3: Inspect the Charger and Port

  • Try a different wall outlet.
  • If possible, test with another compatible HP charger.
  • Gently wiggle the charging cable at the port—if the light flickers, the port might be loose.

🧠 Step 4: Rule Out Overheating

If the laptop was used in a warm environment or left in a bag, it might need time to cool down. Let it sit unplugged for 15–20 minutes before retrying.

🛠️ Step 5: Service May Be Needed

If none of the above work, the issue could be with the battery, motherboard, or power circuit.

Let me know what you observe after trying these steps—whether it’s a flicker of light or complete silence, I’ll guide you from there. We’ll get this sorted together! 💪💻
