HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 16-a0520na

Hi went to use my laptop yesterday and it had no power and no charging light near the port. Thought it maybe the charger but a new one is giving the same issue.

The laptop is totally dead so I can’t enter it.

Hi @Mark189207,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out.

I understand your HP Pavilion Gaming 16-a0520na is completely unresponsive. The laptop does not power on, there is no charging LED, and you've already ruled out the AC adapter by trying a replacement charger.

Let's try the following steps:

Perform a hard reset

Disconnect the AC adapter.

Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, mouse, docking station, etc.).

Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.

Connect only the AC adapter and try turning the notebook on again.

Check the power source

Plug the charger directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors or extension cords).

Verify the charging connector is fully inserted into the laptop.

Inspect the charging port for any signs of damage, bent pins, or debris.

Check for charging indicators

With the AC adapter connected:

Look for the charging LED near the power connector.

Listen for any signs of life, such as the fan spinning briefly or the Caps Lock/Power LED blinking.

Try HP Hardware Diagnostics

If the notebook powers on:

Press the Esc key repeatedly during startup.

Press F2 to launch HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.

Run the battery and AC adapter tests.

Please refer to this link for assistance in running the test

Since the notebook currently shows no charging light and no response even with a known-good charger, this may indicate a hardware issue with the DC-in jack, battery, system board power circuitry, or another internal power component.

I hope this helps, and let me know how it goes.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

I thankyou for reaching out… tried all of the above and nothing still

I can see no visual damage or obstructions to the charging port.

There is no charging light or any sign of boot up. The laptop was used less than 24hours before this issue happened.
