HP Elitebook 820 G3

My elitebook all of a sudden won’t turn on ! When you plug it in a small orange LED Illuminates (3rd from left on them bank of 4) but it won’t turn on.

if the battery is gone will it still boot up with the battery removed and plugged in ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Yes the laptop can run with the battery removed and plugged in but a dead battery 99% of the time will not prevent the laptop from powering on with AC power. The AC adapter might be bad and not putting out sufficient power but again that is a long shot. Odds are the laptop has incurred a catastrophic failure such as a dead motherboard. Before we go there, however you want to try a hard reset and if you feel you can, go ahead and remove the battery and try running it on just AC power. You might need to reset the CMOS settings but that is not hard to do.

Thank you for your response, I have tried all of the suggestions  and still the computer will not boot up. I even ordered a new battery which I’m sure is a waste of time.

So on to the motherboard or what should I check next ?

Best Regards

**RESOLVED** you must hold the power button down at least for 15+ seconds to get a reboot . I tried this again and it’s worked. Thank you !
