Hi @RG2613,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP laptop not turning on. Let’s go through a few checks.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Remove any connected USB devices, SD cards, or external accessories.
  • If the battery is removable, remove it from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter only and try turning the laptop on.

Note: This clears residual electrical charge that may prevent startup.

Check Power Adapter and Charging Indicator

  • Plug the AC adapter directly into a wall outlet.
  • Connect it firmly to the laptop charging port.
  • Look for a charging LED indicator near the port or on the keyboard area.
  • Observe whether the light turns on, blinks, or stays off.
  • Try powering on the laptop again.

Note: No charging light may indicate a power adapter or power port issue.

Test With External Display Indicators

  • Press the Power button once.
  • Listen for fan noise or drive activity.
  • Observe if keyboard lights or indicator LEDs turn on.
  • Wait about 30 seconds after pressing the power button.
  • Press Caps Lock to see if the LED responds.

Note: If lights respond but the screen stays black, the issue may be related to the display.

Perform a BIOS Recovery Attempt

  • Turn the laptop off.
  • Press and hold Windows + B on the keyboard.
  • While holding the keys, press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
  • Release the Power button but keep holding Windows + B for a few seconds.
  • Check if the BIOS recovery screen appears.

Check Battery Condition

  • Disconnect the AC adapter.
  • If the battery is removable, remove it.
  • Connect the AC adapter without the battery installed.
  • Press the Power button to start the laptop.
  • Observe if the laptop powers on normally.

I hope this helps.
