My HP pavilion laptop is not turning on despite being connected to a charger... It wasn't working without it earlier.... It's been 4 years since I bought it.

Hi @Jjtttyy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Since your HP Pavilion laptop is not turning on even when connected to a charger, and it previously only worked while plugged in, this could point to a battery, power supply, or motherboard issue. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot:

1. Hard Reset the Laptop

  • Disconnect the charger.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and try powering it on.

2. Check the Power Adapter and Charging Port

  • Ensure the charging LED near the port lights up.
  • Try a different compatible charger if available.
  • Inspect the charging port for dust or damage.

3. Try a BIOS Power Reset (if keyboard lights blink)

  • Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.
  • Release all keys and wait to see if the BIOS recovery screen appears.

4. Remove Battery (if removable)

  • If your model has a removable battery, take it out.
  • Plug in the charger without the battery and try turning it on.

5. Check for Signs of Life

  • Any LED lightsfan noise, or keyboard backlight?
  • If completely dead, it could be a motherboard or power circuit failure.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
