HP 15-r031sv Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there.

I have a notebook HP 15-r031sv.Few weeks ago, I placed an extra  8gb ram memory module .

But now , my laptop is overheating ( sometimes  88 degrees Celsius with only Edge and antivirus running)  and the fan is always running at low speed. If I use third party software , fan is speeding up, but I am not sure if I have the correct settings ( temperature curve ).

Cool Sense 1.0 was running at my system ( Windows 10 , 64 bit), but now Cool Sense 2.2  is not even getting installed.

BIOS is updated and the fan setting is always on. I am using cooling pad and ,to be honest , the room temperature is about 30 degrees Celsius.

So the question is: how can I control the speed fan to prevent the overheat? Is there any software, supported by HP, to control the speed fan for this old model?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English.

Please accept my apologies for my very late reply.

Unfortunately no one hp software is running on my laptop. From FAST analysis i saw that my HDD is running out and i it is going to die but i don't think this the problem (max HDD temperature is 41 Celsius degrees).

The problem is more general and  i have to re-install windows when i replace the HDD.

Anyway thanks for your assistance and i will let you know.

Thanks for your time.
