Hi, so my younger brother was playing on his laptop last night when he noticed a  black sticky liquid start to pool under his laptop, and apparently it started to form lumps after a while. He immediately cleaned it up and went about his business (not the smartest idea, I know), but I had a look at it today, during which a little more of the liquid seemed to come out from between the battery and the battery bay.

The fluid is brownish black, doesn't smell, dries quite quickly and becomes crusty and sticky. And apparently there was a lot of it.

I cannot say for certain but it would seem that it came from the battery, although I can't seem to discern exactly where, because none of the liquid seemed to crust around a particular opening. It certainly didn't come from the laptop's air vents, they'd be crusted over.

The battery still seems to work perfectly fine, but its been removed just incase. The battery pack itself is not damaged or cracked in any way, and hasn't ever been handled roughly. This is probably the first time it's been removed from the laptop. I've checked whether it was supposed to be one of the recalled batteries, and it wasn't.

On one hand, the battery still works fine, but on the other, it did just bleed black sticky fluid everywhere; would it be dangerous to continue using it? And just out of curiousity, what could the fluid have been?

Thanks in advance for your help.

There is nothing liquid inside a laptop. The liquid did not come from the laptop. Nice try.

I had to turn mine bc of something similar, They said I must have spilled something on it when I DID NOT! Now a 3-month-old laptop is fried.
