Hi,
I was using my laptop this weekend when all of I sudden I started to see smoke from the power adapter connector to the laptop. In no time it was in flames. so I quickly pulled out the adapter from the laptop but it continued to flame on the floor. I turned off all power and it immediately stopped the flaming. Obviously it was quite scary but after I calmed down I checked the end of the adapter - it appeared to be all melted and charred however I couldn't see any obvious damage to the laptop.
However when checking the laptop, I noticed it had a bulge on the underside where I guess the battery is, so it looks like it the battery could have been faulty for a while. Also the performance of the laptop has become strange in the last week, every interaction feels laggy in a way it did not in the past.
Any suggestions what I do with this laptop? It is still under warranty from HP. In the meantime I have brought another laptop as I need to have a laptop and cannot afford any downtime. After this experience I am quite afraid to use another HP product.
